Marriage Registration in Thailand
Registering a marriage with a foreigner in Thailand
We advise on and handle marriage registration with a foreigner in Thailand, supporting you through every step and solving issues before registration. We have experience helping foreigners who want to register their marriage in Thailand.
Our Service
Preparing the Thai partner's documents to obtain a certificate of single status in the foreign partner's country: for some countries, official documents must be sent to the foreign partner to obtain a Marital Status Certificate or Letter of Spousal Consent from their place of residence before the marriage can be registered in Thailand.
Document translation and legalisation at embassies and Thai consular offices: Thai official documents used for marriage registration must be legalised by the Thai consular department, and in some countries they must also be translated and certified at the foreign partner's embassy first. Certificate of single status: you need to prepare the information to request it from the foreign partner's embassy. Registration at the district office with witnesses: we can arrange marriage registration in any district you choose, including witnesses.
Note: the documents above may change depending on the foreign partner's nationality.
Summary of the registration steps:
Step 1: We take you to apply for a certificate of single status at the foreign partner's embassy in Thailand.
Step 2: The certificate of single status is translated into Thai and legalised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (some countries require translation and certification at the embassy first).
Step 3: Register the marriage with the registrar at any district office you choose. We can provide witnesses to make registration easy.
Step 4: After registration, the marriage certificates (Kor Ror 2 and Kor Ror 3) are translated into English so they can be legalised again by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Step 5: Use the Kor Ror 2 and Kor Ror 3 certified by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to apply for a visa or other legal matters.
Note: Kor Ror 2 is the marriage registration and Kor Ror 3 is the marriage certificate.
